Nike Advertisement

nike basketball

I was playing around in Adobe Photoshop CS3 and thought I might create an advertisement for Nike Basketball. I read a lot of basketball magazines so I had some knowledge as to what the target audience for nike products would be attracted to. This dark, glowing image reveals enough visual information to present what american basketball is all about. The jersey, the bling, the attitude, and the ball.

Exams… here we come!

As the end of the year approaches, students and L.C.S feel the pressure to finish strong. I thought it would be appropriate to get a snapshot of students working hard. Here is just one image that I edited in Adobe Photoshop CS3

Interactive Website

I am currently working on my major project in Design Graphics and Computing. I’m aiming to achieve an interactive webpage about Launceston Christian School College. The site will have many photoshop edited images, not just of the students, but also of design elements, buildings, concepts and objects which are typically associated with the college at L.C.S. This image of the hands is presented in the index page when the site is entered. I have used Adobe Flash to have two pictures running after the other repeatedly so the site looks fun and interesting. I chose the concept of the hands to emphasize the friendship and cooperation which exists among each student in the college. I have yet to complete this webpage design.

Design in Sydney

sydney opera house & sydney harbour bridge

sydney opera house & sydney harbour bridge

I have just come back from a trip to Sydney. The holiday was both good and bad. The good part was that I had a wonderfully awesome time up there catching up with my big brother and seeing all the sites. But the bad part was the fact that the six day trip prevented me from doing my homework. So I thought to myself… “what could I do to make sure I did at least something for school on while I was in Sydney?”. I decided to make a few pictures (or as many as my memory card allowed) of designs in Sydney and the Blue Mountains which I really enjoyed. The designs I shot ranged from attention-grabbing logos to astounding nature views.

…So check out my Sydney Design Gallery!

Shanghai Architecture

Architecture

Architecture

This building in Shanghai houses the information centre for an exhibition museum. It takes its shape from a half open flower, with the red being the open petals on the outside and the black glass being the core of the flower. I thought the originality of the architecture was amazing. The designers did a great job in creating a builiding with abstract elements.

I stumbled upon this design while visiting the www.thedesignblog.com website.

Say “NO!” to clutter

simple
I guess you could say my approach to art and design is very modern and feministic. I like to keep designs simple and uncluttered. I see clutter as elements of visual articles that have “no place” in a design, and as a result, spoil the main focus or pivotal point I wish to convey. The simplistic quality of a design contributes to the particular mood I strive to generate in a viewer, and the presence of clutter fails to reinforce this mood. The main reason for this is that clutter, or “too much”, in a design makes me anxious. When I am confronted with an image which has too many things happening, and basically looks as messy as my brothers room on a friday afternoon, I start to feel restless and chaotic. When the many elements of a design work together, complementing eachother and accentuating the beauty of one another, then a design is not cluttered. However, when the many elements of a design fail to produce this effect, then a design is cluttered and chaotic.

Edutainment Animation Progress Report

Ronney

Ronney

I have completed and handed in my kids edutainment animation. This project proved very challenging for me because I hadn’t used any modelling or animation program previously and I was new to all the terms and techniques involved in creating such an animation. I had many issues with tweening the movements in the limbs and the mouth. This was a tedious task because the voice-over I recorded and transferred to the computer had to fit with the mouth movements. Although this aspect of the animation was still not perfected, the “dodgy-ness” of the characters movements were humorous and added to the way the animation reflected a childish, or amateur presentation. I intended to make the animation a lot longer than the final product, however I was unable to do this as time time was limited. I made sure the animation was succinct and brief. I think if the animation continued for to long, the young viewers would grow bored of the characters repeated gestures and movements. The pictures of the elephants served as a secondary feature which the children could focus their attention and be entertained with. All in all, I’m very glad to have this project done and complete. I can’t say that I enjoy graphic animation all that much, but if I learn to use it the right way and practise more and more, I suppose Flash would be a very interesting program to use and create short animations in.

Freycinet Bushwalk

The Adventure Ed class at our school went on a three day bushwalk in the Freycinet National Park. We walked approximately 30km in three days, carrying a 17kg backpack! The trip offered me some opportunities to make some awesome pics of my friends and nature! Heres one that I thought was pretty sweet cause it conveys what the whole trip was about.. walking while being surrounded by Gods creation.

This picture was taken on Wineglass Bay, the beached we camped at on the second night.

Task Two 15-7-08 – J Schatz

Jim Schatz designs and handcrafts products and makes common things in a wonderfully unique and innovative way. His focus on particular themes frequently change, from birds to poodles, from eggs to houses, from curtains to buff humpty. I really admire the way in which he combines elements of design, such as the line, shapes and textures of his products, to create products that have purpose and function. Jim creates ceramic ware made of clay that is pierced, scratched, drilled, fired and glazed into beautiful designs. The characterisitics of his designs include many organic, rounded shapes. Harmony is also used as he combines related elements such as egg-shaped products. Here are some examples of Jim Schatz’s products

His work has grown and flourished into a successful design business.
