I have completed and handed in my kids edutainment animation. This project proved very challenging for me because I hadn’t used any modelling or animation program previously and I was new to all the terms and techniques involved in creating such an animation. I had many issues with tweening the movements in the limbs and the mouth. This was a tedious task because the voice-over I recorded and transferred to the computer had to fit with the mouth movements. Although this aspect of the animation was still not perfected, the “dodgy-ness” of the characters movements were humorous and added to the way the animation reflected a childish, or amateur presentation. I intended to make the animation a lot longer than the final product, however I was unable to do this as time time was limited. I made sure the animation was succinct and brief. I think if the animation continued for to long, the young viewers would grow bored of the characters repeated gestures and movements. The pictures of the elephants served as a secondary feature which the children could focus their attention and be entertained with. All in all, I’m very glad to have this project done and complete. I can’t say that I enjoy graphic animation all that much, but if I learn to use it the right way and practise more and more, I suppose Flash would be a very interesting program to use and create short animations in.

Hi HV,
just wondering if the Flash Document you put in the Kids Edutainment to burn folder is your finished project or if you were planning on exporting it to an animated GIF or SWF or AVI format?
It looks great so far.

Thanks for finishing before holidays – 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration seems to have applied to your project – it really works and this is a testimony to your hard work. Well done. Don’t get too disheartened by the amount of time it took – most children’s TV shows have 50 or more people working on the design and production of each episode. You and the rest of the class (who finished) did very well to complete all aspects of design and production yourselves.
The new blog page looks good.
